Rail recruitment scam: CBI arrests Sharma
Mumbai, Jun 23: Mumbai Railway Recruitment Board Chairman SM Sharma was arrested by CBI officials on Wednesday, Jun 23. CBI informed that the RRB question papers were sold to each aspirant, for Rs 3.5 lakh.
CBI had revealed that Sharma was the masterbrain behind the wilful sale of question papers. Railways have decided to take stern action against Sharma and curtail the powers of all 21 RRB chiefs.
Sharma's son, Vivek Bhardwaj Sharma was arrested earlier by CBI which unearthed the Railway recruitment scam conducting raids at Kolkata, Raipur, Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad. The Railways had immediately suspended Sharma, providing green signal to CBI investigation.
The others who were arrested in the case include the then additional divisional railway manager(ADRM), Raipur A K Jagannatham, his son Srujan and a Raipur-based agent.
