London, June 22 (ANI): A father has accused a primary school in UK of showing porn in the name of sex education and asked the school to withdraw it.
Christopher Power branded the video as 'cartoon porn' that shows a couple having sex in different positions.
The video was shown at Higher Bebington Junior School in Wirral, Merseyside, to pupils aged 7. It shows a naked cartoon couple having a pillow fight and chasing each other before having sex in different positions, reports The Daily Star.
Power was so embarrassed when he saw the video at a parents' preview that he withdrew his 10-year-old son from the sex education lessons.
The school has now agreed to censor a section of the Channel 4 DVD, How Babies Are Made after a revolt by parents.
"It starts off fine with about 20 minutes on relationships but then it goes to the section about how babies are made, which can only be described as cartoon porn," Power said.
"It is far too graphic. Where is the innocence? At that age kids should be stamp collecting or playing football. I think it's just inappropriate. If you're going to teach sex education there should be a balance. Shouldn't we be teaching children about unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases? There was no such balance.
"I think sexual education - the sexual intercourse part - should be taught in secondary schools. My son will not be watching it," he added.
Acting head teacher Mark Holton said: "While the short cartoon section could never be described as pornographic, we have reviewed it following this complaint and decided it does trivialise the important messages. We have decided to edit that section in future."
The DVD aims to "gently introduce sex education to younger children, through puberty and birth, to media images, same-sex relationships and teen pregnancy," Holton added. (ANI)
