Scot Murray yet to decide whether to bow to Queen or not

London, June 20 (ANI): Fiercely patriotic Scottish tennis ace Andy Murray says he has not decided whether he will bow to the Queen at Wimbledon this week.

Her Majesty is due to be the guest of honour at the All England Club on Thursday. It will be her first visit since 1977, raising the prospect of a lost tradition being revived.

Until 2003 protocol dictated that players should bow or curtsy to the royal box before games began, but this was dropped at the request of the Duke of Kent, the president of the All England Club.

However, in light of the Queen's visit, the organisers of the game's most prestigious Grand Slam competition yesterday issued a directive saying players would be allowed to make a personal decision on whether to bow or curtsy to the monarch.

Speaking before the opening games tomorrow, Murray, 23, revealed that he had not yet decided whether to bow to the Queen if he plays before her on the Centre Court.

The Daily Express quoted him as saying: "I'll have a chat with the guys. I don't want to be bowing and the person I'm playing with walk straight past or the other way around. You obviously need to have an agreement before you go on."

He said he would have to speak to the club's organisers about it. (ANI)
