Recruitment scam: Railway exams postponed
New Delhi, Jun 19: The Railways has decided to postpone the examinations scheduled to be held on Jun 27 for various posts over the surfacing of a multi-crore recruitment scam, which was busted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Announcement of the new dates for the written examination held by Railways Recruitment Board (RRD) is expected shortly.
On Jun 27, written examination was scheduled to be held across the country for the posts in several categories including enquiry-cum reservation clerks and goods guards.
The decision to postpone the exams is a direct fall-out of the massive recruitment scam unearthed by the CBI. The investigative agency found that these scams where running in connivance with the officials of RRB.
Reacting quickly to this, the Railways placed chairman of RRB, Mumbai, SM Sharma on suspension. Sharma's son was among the eight arrested by the CBI for leaking question papers of exams pertaining to the posts of Assistant Loco Pilot and Assistant Station Master.
