Hyderabad, Jun 18 (ANI): V. Ranga Rao, son of former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao, refuted allegations made by ex-Foreign Secretary M. K. Rasgotra that his father was involved in granting a go-ahead to Warren Anderson, and said they are unnecessary and unfair.

"The observations made by him (Rasgotra) are unnecessary and in fact helped nobody and they are unfair. Great leaders after being dead, they are departed...to forget their positive contributions and talk about all this imaginary loopholes, is not fair," said Rao on Friday.

On being asked about his father, who was then Foreign Minister of India, Rao said that the ministry had a "limited role" to play and added that such big decisions are taken in consultation with all the ministries.

However, he said that the Group of Ministers (GoM) would take stock of the whole situation and submit its report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh within the next ten days.

"The Group of Ministers will take the stock of the situation and within ten days, they will present a report to the Prime Minister (Manmohan Singh). And then they will actively think of taking steps to rehabilitate in a better way, render justice to the victims in a better way, and will also see that this kind of ...never take place in future," said Rao.

Union Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram heads the GoM.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had asked the GoM on Monday (June 14) to examine the issue and submit a report within ten days. (ANI)
