Johannesburg, Jun 18: After the brilliant 4-0 triumph against Australia, the Germans are set to take on Serbia in the second round Group D tie-up.
Germany, which entered the 19th FIFA World Cup 2010 with a resounding win, stunned the majority of the world and experts, who were concentrating on Spain and Brazil. Dishing out one of the most exciting matches of the first round on the Group stage, Germany also earned the title of being one of the strongest teams.
The four goals were scored by four strikers. Neither did the team show the absence of Ballack nor does it have star players in comparison with other countries but the Germans managed to outclass.
In its first round encounter against Ghana, Serbia lost 0-1. However, the defeat is being attributed to bad luck by some, who believe that the Serbs are the dark horses in FIFA World Cup 2010. German coach Joachim Low has also warned his squad not to underestimate the Serbians
The stakes are high for Serbia. The team has to win this match and grab all the three points to qualify for the knockout stages. But the chances of the Serbs sealing a win against the Germans are low.
Serbs will have to depend on ace central defender Nemanja Vidic to thwart the German attack. The Serbian defence will definitely be tougher for the Germans to break as against the Australians'.
While Serbia winning the match is crucial to qualify for the next stage, it will also open up the Group and Ghana can try to grab a place for itself in the next round. If Germany wins, they will not only book a place for the knockout stages, the team will yet against assert its presence in the tournament.
