Central forces reach Manipur

Imphal, Jun 18: More than 20 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officials and Border Security Force (BSF)reached Manipur to clear the economic blockade of the state, on Thursday, Jun 17. This consists more than 2000 personnel in total.

The blockade by the Naga outfits, which lasted for 68 days has finally been lifted with the security forces reaching the area. The civil battalion have now been deployed along National Highways 39 and 53 to escort trucks into the state.

One battalion of the central paramilitary forces and a company of Mahila battalion has been airlifted to Nagaland too.

police informed that no truck either from Manipur or Assam entered Nagaland for the past two days even though the NSF has 'temporarily lifted" the economic blockade.
