Bhopal GoM meet ends for the day
New Delhi, Jun 18: The Group of Ministers (GoM) meet over the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy ended on Friday, Jun 18. The meeting which lasted for two hours, was headed by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
Chidambaram said that the main focus of today's meeting was the compensation and rehabilitation of Bhopal tragedy victims.
"The second GoM meeting will be held tomorrow again," Chidambaram said. The ministers would look to the health and legal issues on Saturday, Jun 19. Chidambaram added that GoM will discuss all the issues related to the case and address all the issues and submit the report to Prime Minister Manmohan singh on Sunday, Jun 20.
The nine member panel of GoM includes Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily, Minister for Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Kamal Nath, Congress' Selja Kumari, DMK's MK Alagiri, Congress MP Prithviraj Chavan and Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh other than Chidambaram.
