Afridi yet to come to terms with challenges concerning captaincy: Rameez

By Super Admin

Lahore, Jun.16 (ANI): Former Pakistan cricket captain Rameez Raza believes that incumbent skipper Shahid Afridi is still to come to terms with the challenges attached with the post.

Rameez said that though Afridi's cherished dream of leading the national side in all the three formats of the game has come true, he has yet to come to terms with the pressures that accompany the captaincy.

"His long-cherished dream to captain Pakistan in all formats of cricket may have come true but he would have a tough time dealing with the pressure that the job brings with it," The Nation quoted Rameez, as saying.

Rameez also backed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to appoint Afridi as the captain for all three formats, saying the step would bring stability in the team.

"I back the PCB decision to appoint him captain for all three formats of the sport despite Afridi's reluctance to play Test cricket. Afridi being captain for all three forms of the game will bring consistency and stability to the captaincy," he said.

He pointed out that the ongoing Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and the subsequent England tour would not only test Afridi's capability as a skipper but his performance as a player would also be under severe scrutiny. (ANI)
