Melbourne, June 14 (ANI): Experts have expressed concern over innumerable teenage girls joining the popular dating site Oasis Active.

Oasis Active, especially popular among young Australian teens, has overtaken the Fairfax-owned RSVP to become the number-one dating site in the country, according to digital researchers comScore and Hitwise.

Experts have cautioned users to be careful while meeting someone over the Internet, especially in the wake of a murder in Sydney earlier this year.

Christopher James Dannevig, 20, of Leumeah, is charged with the killing of 18-year-old Nona Belomesoff, of Cecil Hills, whom he met on Oasis Active and later chatted with via Facebook.

Moreover, the website allows access only to users above the age of 18, but according to The Sunday Telegraph, girls as young as 15 are members of the controversial website.

"The bottom line is the Internet is like the real world - there are good people and there are bad people," News.com.au quoted adolescent psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg as saying.

"Sometimes, even if you stick to the rules, you're going to end up dead. Parents have to monitor what their kids are doing online," he added. (ANI)
