Karaikudi, Jun 13: P Chidambaram, the Union Home Minister informed that the bill to prevent, control and rehabilitate the communal violence will come soon to prevent violence in the name of caste and religion.

He said that some suggestions had come from the parliamentary standing committee for amending the Communal Violence Bill and it had been placed before Parliament. He was advocating a function organised to unveil the statue of BR Ambedkar, in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, Jun 13 evening.

Sonia Gandhi had asked to make it touger for the people who stimulate caste and communal violence, said Chidambaram. He said that the bill would be ready soon. The amendment would help the law officials to take tough actions against the people spreading communal violence.

He also said that it was not good to hear about caste and communal violence even after several decades of independence and adding such incidents had no place in the land where great leaders like Kamaraj, Anna (Annadurai-DMK founder) and the rationalist leader, Periyar lived.
