Port of Spain, Jun 12 (ANI): South African batsmen saw off a marathon spell from off- spinner Sulieman Benn to reach a competitive 352 all out in their first innings before the close of play on day two of the first Test at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain.

Benn took five wickets for 120 in his 47 overs, and had the South African team, resuming at their overnight score of 70-3, in trouble inside the first hour of the day.

Nightwatchman Paul Harris and Jacques Kallis fell in quick succession to leave South Africa wobbling at 107 for 5

However, Mark Boucher, AB de Villiers and Ashwell Prince produced crucial partnerships to put the South Africans back on track.

De Villiers (68) and Prince (57) had a sixth-wicket stand of 122, while wicketkeeper Boucher top scored with 69 from 146 balls, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The visitors were again in trouble when de Villiers and Prince fell within four overs of each other at 238 for 7, but Boucher continued the fight with tail-enders Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel and Lonwabo Tsotsobe before being the last man to be dismissed.

He added a valuable 96 for the eighth wicket with Steyn (39).

West Indies Test debutante Shane Shillingford supported Benn with his off-spin with 3-96 from 34 overs.

Scorecard: South Africa Ist innings- 352 (Boucher 69, de Villiers 68, Benn 5-120) (ANI)
