Montreal, June 12(ANI): British Formula One racing drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button have backed the England team to get their World Cup campaign off to a flying start in their Group C game against the USA tonight.
The duo is in Montreal for Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix.
Hamilton said that he is excited for the game like every other England fan, and would be looking forward to see the team taste World Cup glory.
"Good luck to the whole team and, like everyone back home in the UK, I am excited about watching it. It would be fantastic if we got to the later stages or even win it. Just think how amazing that would be," The Sun quoted Hamilton, as saying.
"The whole country would go crazy. I would have to make sure I headed back and spent some time there just to see what it would be like. I would love to have been in South Africa. I was invited by Mr Mandela [former South African President], but there are clashes with F1," he added.
Meanwhile, Button hopes to catch the game on TV, despite it coming shortly after the qualifying session for tomorrow's race.
"I'm hoping to watch it. We'll be in debrief after qualifying which is a pain, but I'll be following it. I'm very patriotic and hope we win it. I wish the team all the best of luck," he said. (ANI)
