Pacheco met Nadia two days before her death
Panaji, Jun 12: The mystery of Nadia Torrado's death continues to deepen as the Goa police has now found that the former Goa Tourism Minister Fransisco Pacheco was with his 28-year-old woman friend for two days before she allegedly consumed poison.
Nadia, a close friend of the former minister, died in a hospital on May 30, 15 days after consuming poision. The Crime Branch of the Goa police, which is probing into the case, said that the ex-minister had met Nadia on May 13 and 14. There is also a possibility that he was present at her house when she took rat poison.
Pacheco, who was grilled by the Crime Branch of the Goa police for over nine hours over Nadia's death last, immediately resigned and has been absconding ever since.
The Crime Branch, which is currently corroborating statements by Nadia"s mother Sonia, her two brothers, a maid servant and Pachecho, also said that several contradictions in the statements given by Nadia"s family were found.
While the sleuths have found that Nadia"s mother was not in her house when her daughter committed suicide, Sonia denies this. One of the maid servants at Nadia's house also revealed that Sonia had asked her to destroy the evidence.
In another suspicious aspect, Nadia's postmortem report states that the injuries were afflicted on the body 14-16 days before her death. Nadia"s family members claim that these injuries were caused during the treatment.
