Suicide bombing at Afghan wedding party; 40 killed
Kandahar, Jun 10: A suicide bomber launched an attack on a wedding party in the southern province of Kandahar late on Wednesday, Jun 9, killing as many as 40 people and injuring scores.
Officials speaking on the bombing incident that shook Arghandab district indicated that the death toll could rise as they failed to give 'accurate' numbers on the loss of lives.
The injured, including the groom as well as many children, were quickly rushed to hospitals and clinics.
“It was a suicide bomber that targeted the wedding party," a senior police official in the province said on the condition of anonymity.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.
Till 2001, Kandahar was the home for Taliban and the headquarters for militant leaders.
