London, June 9 (ANI): A man and his daughter were arrested after they confessed to having an incestuous fling.
Stephen Paterson, 44, and Kirsty Paterson, 26, were handed 16 months each for a series of romps when she tracked him down years after being adopted as a child.
The pair had sex in secret for three months before being rumbled by Paterson's wife.
However, they continued their affair even after appearing in court charged with incest.
Yesterday Sheriff Carole Cunninghame warned them their sentences would have been longer if they hadn't plead guilty at an early stage.
"It is the court's view that the gravity of this case is such that a custodial sentence is the only appropriate disposal," the Sun quoted her as saying.
Kirsty had been adopted after Paterson's high-school sweetheart Sarah-Louise Milne gave birth to her in 1984 without him knowing.
But after being brought up by a couple in Lanark she tracked down her biological dad, turning up on his doorstep in Girvan, Ayrshire.
He had been unaware of her existence until 2008, the court heard.
But after she moved to Girvan and was introduced to Paterson's friends and family the pair became close - then began their secret romps. (ANI)
