Kuala Lumpur, June 8 (ANI): Police in Malaysia have arrested the accomplice of a rapist - an 18-year-old girl who is a secondary school student and helped the cabbie by video-taping some of the rapes.
It is being said that she participated herself in some of them too. Officers nabbed her from her home in Cheras and have obtained a remand order for her until June 11.
The girl's parents have claimed that she herself had been the taxi driver's victim for almost a year and had been forced into helping him record the rapes. Ampang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Amiruddin Jamaluddin confirmed the arrest.
"We appreciate the media attention given to this case as it has helped us receive more tips from the public," the Star Online quoted him as saying.
Last week, police arrested the suspect at a taxi stand in Jalan Imbi following police reports by three teenage girls that he had raped them and kept them as sex slaves for almost a year. He allegedly preyed on at least six secondary school girls aged between 15 and 17 by waiting outside their schools to get them into his taxi. Once stopping at his house by pretending to have an emergency, he would force the girls into his house and rape them.
He would then record the videotape, and blackmail the girls to stay quiet, calling them whenever he needed sexual favours from them. The remand order for the suspect, who has been a taxi driver for 17 years, ends today but is expected to be extended. (ANI)
