Paris, Jun 7: Defeating Robin Soderling at Roland Garros on Sunday, Jun 6, the fiery Spaniard Rafael Nadal grabbed his fifth French Open title.
Nadal dished out a 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 deafeat to Soderling to become the second man to clinch the French crown for the fifth time, after the tennis legend Bjorn Borg of Sweden.
Rafa stormed past the Swede in a two hours 18 minutes bout that seemed to be aimed at proving why he was known as the 'King of Clay'.
"I played my best match against you. If not, it's going to be impossible to beat you," the victor told 25-year-old Soderling during the trophy ceremony.
With the scorching win at Roland Garros, the 24-year-old regains the coveted world number one ranking pushing aside the Swiss ace Roger Federer.
