Manmohan Singh to visit Kashmir today
New Delhi, June 7 (ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will undertake a two-day visit to Kashmir from today.
Dr. Singh is likely to renew the Central Government's offer for talks for those who are outside the mainstream politics and also review the progress in the Round Table peace initiative and development work being undertaken in the state.
He will address a convocation of the Sher-e-Kashmir Agricultural University in Srinagar, said official sources.
Dr.Singh will also be accompanied by Union Ministers Farooq Abdullah, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Prithviraj Chavan.
Tight security arrangements are being made with police pickets erected at various places to combat threats from terror groups.
This will be Dr. Singh's second visit to Jammu and Kashmir after being reelected as Prime Minister for a second consecutive term in the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government. He visited Srinagar in last October. (ANI)
