London, June 7(ANI): Barcelona's top brass has claimed that Arsenal is willing to sell their captain Cesc Fabregas for 50 million pounds.
The Spanish giants are not prepared to make an offer, but the fact that Arsenal has named a price suggests that there is scope for negotiation.
"This is the news the men in charge at Barca wanted," The Sun quoted a Barcelona source, as saying.
"They now see the possibility of Arsenal cracking and are determined to get their man. They hope they can get an agreement at around the 35 million pound mark," he added.
Barcelona has renewed its attempt of signing Fabregas after their 29 million pound bid was rejected outright.
Arsenal had earlier asked Barcelona to desist from such moves in a statement that said they had "immediately and resolutely" rejected the approach for their captain, and that they expect Barcelona to respect their stance.
"Cesc Fabregas is under contract with the club until the summer of 2015. He is a highly valued member of the team and part of our future plans," the Arsenal statement read. (ANI)
