Afridi calls for Younis' inclusion in Test team for England tour

By Super Admin

Lahore, Jun.6 (ANI): Newly appointed Pakistan Test captain Shahid Afridi has once again called for inclusion of experienced middle order batsman Younis Khan in the national squad for the upcoming Test series against England and Australia.

Afridi said Younis', whose indefinite ban was revoked by the Pakistan Cricket Board's appellate tribunal on Saturday, presence during the exhaustive England tour this summer would be of great help.

Younis was the only batsman with an average of 50 in the list of 35 probables for the Asia Cup, but selectors ignored him for the quadrangular one-day series in Sri Lanka, however, Afridi believes that it is not a big problem that the right-handed batsman would not be playing in the June 15- 24 tournament.

"I don't think it is a big problem that Younus has not been picked in the one-day squad but we definitely need him for the Test matches. I am sure he will be ready for a Test comeback in England," The Daily Times quoted Afridi, as saying.

The swashbuckling all rounder also expressed the hope that Younis' upcoming stint with the English county team Surrey would help him prepare for the rigorous tour ahead.

"I just hope that Younus is able to score runs for Surrey in England. It will be good for us because he is already playing there and would have got used to the English conditions by the time we go there," Afridi said. (ANI)
