Only four percent Brits back England for World Cup final place: Pol

By Super Admin

London, May 29(ANI): A new survey has revealed that only four percent of Brits think that England will make July 11's World Cup final in South Africa, but 24 percent believe that they will reach the semis.

The Sun YouGov poll also found that Steven Gerrard would be a more popular captain than Rio Ferdinand.

Twenty-one percent voted for Gerrard, nearly twice as many as those who chose Ferdinand.

It further found that striker Wayne Rooney is thought most likely to be red-carded, but he is also expected to be named England's player of the tournament, The Sun reports.

The World Cup is scheduled to take place between June 11 and July 11, and will be the culmination of a qualification process that began in August 2007 and involved 204 of the 208 FIFA national teams.

This will be the first time that the tournament will be hosted by an African nation, after South Africa beat Morocco and Egypt in an all-African bidding process. (ANI)
