London, May 29(ANI): England defender John Terry insists that he knows what millions of British fans will be feeling ahead of the World Cup because there will be no one more patriotic than him.
"I am so proud to be an Englishman. The hairs stand up on the back of my neck every time I hear the National Anthem," The Sun quoted Terry, as saying.
"I can't put into words the emotions I get when thousands of fans belt out God Save The Queen. It's the best feeling I've ever had on a football field. That's when I puff my chest out and move into game mode," he added.
The 29-year-old further said that really appreciates the support that the England team receives, and added that he desperately wants to pay them back at this World Cup.
"No other country in the world gets better backing from their supporters. At Euro 2004 and the last World Cup, England fans outnumbered and outsang everyone. When we went to Croatia for the World Cup qualifier, the players couldn't believe how many supporters had taken time off work to follow us," Terry said.
"If I wasn't playing for England, I'd definitely be out there among those supporters because I understand what it means to be English," he added. (ANI)
