Bomb scare halt train services in Orissa
Rourkela, May 29: A bomb scare has brought down Train services to halt for about an hour on the Mumbai-Howrah route along the tracks near Jharsuguda in Orissa on Saturday, May29 causing panic in the area, according to railway police.
Five small crude bombs,were found lying along the tracks at Chaukipada, about 160 km from here, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Railway), M. Mahanta said.
A bomb detection and disposal squad was immediately called and Railway Protection Force (RPF) and government railway police (GRP) were also deployed to the site soon after the round objects were spotted.
However, an officer of the local police who was acquainted with bomb detection and disposal operation seized the bombs even before the arrival of the squad and neutralized them by immersing the objects in water before the squad reached the spot.
While investigating the issue , police suspected that the bombs could have been thrown by petty criminals, who generally use such objects while committing crimes to scare people.
