Mkts ends on a strong note

Mumbai, May26: At 16:30 hrs The Sensex closed at 16387, 365 points and the Nifty was at 4917, up 110 points. The benchmark Nifty has seen huge short covering after yesterday's sharp sell-off, which pushed the index 110 points higher at close while the Sensex by 365 points higher.

Recovery in global markets on bargain hunting after yesterday's carnage also helped the markets. All global markets had crashed on Tuesday, May25 on European debt worries and rising geopolitical tensions in Korea.

Mkts surges ahead on back of strong global Mkts

Mumbai, May 26: The Sensex was trading at 16304, up 281 points and the Nifty was at 4889, up 82 points. The benchmark Sensex surged further especially after strong opening of European markets. FTSE, CAC and DAX were up 1.5-2.6%

All sectoral indices were on the buyers' radar barring few stocks. Realty, Metal and IT indices went up over 2%. Oil & Gas, Bank, FMCG, Auto, Capital Goods and Healthcare indices gained 1-1.5%.

However, Idea Cellular, ACC, HUL, Maruti, Reliance Capital and Sun Pharma were the only losers on Nifty.

Top gainers - Hindalco Industries was trading at Rs 143.35, up 4.10%; TCS was at Rs 722.50, up 3.40%; Jaiprakash Associates was at Rs 119.95, up 3.27%; Sterlite Industries was at Rs 626.75, up 3.12%; DLF was at Rs 263.70, up 2.99%; Unitech was at Rs 68.60, up 3.86% and SAIL was at Rs 193.35, up 3.42%

Mkts continue recovery work , remains positive

Mumbai,May26: At 12;30 hrs The BSE Sensex was trading at 16267, down 245 points and the Nifty was at 4880, up 73 points. The benchmark Sensex was trading with more than 200 points gains but there was a bit of volatility ahead of May expiry tomorrow. Short covering was playing an important role today as the markets went near to 3-1/2 months lows on Tuesday May 26.

All BSE sectoral indices were in green. Realty, Metal, IT, Bank, Oil & Gas, Capital Goods and Auto indices gained 1-2%. However, Idea Cellular, HUL, Reliance Capital, Jindal Steel, Sun Pharma and ACC were the only losers on Nifty.

Top gainers - Sterlite Industries was trading at Rs 627, up 3.16%; Hindalco was at Rs 141.85, up 3.01%; DLF was at Rs 263.30, up 2.83%; TCS was at Rs 714.70, up 2.28%; Tata Motors was at Rs 688.90, up 2.26%; SAIL was at Rs 192.65, up 3.05% and IDFC was at Rs 146.55, up 2.77%.

Mkts open in green; Sensex triple gains

Mumbai, May 26:Markets opened in green, after the day of a biggest slump. At 9:20 hrs, BSE Sensex was 16,227.62 rose 205.14 points and NSE Nifty was 4870.40 up 63.65 points.

NSE Nifty started the day up by 58 points and Sensex was up by 197 points. All the sectoral indices surged and US markets also recovered almost by 3 percent. Asian markets are trading higher. Around 624 shares advanced where as 106 declined on NSE.

Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Siemens, M&M, Jaiprakash Associates, Hindalco, L&T, and SAIL were the gainers among the largecaps.

CNX Midcap also rose 84 points. Among the broader indices, RNRL was up by 1.4 percent, Sesa Goa up 2.4 percent and Nagarjuna Construction could gain 5 percent. JM Financial shot up 9 percent and Educomp rose by 2.5 percent.

Indian Overseas Bank plummeted 4 percent and Nitesh Estates was down 2 percent.
