India, Yemen to focus on trade, energy and infrastructure cooperation

New Delhi, May 25 (ANI): The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is taking its first ever business delegation to Yemen from May 28 to 30, 2010, in its endeavor to enhance and strengthen the bilateral trade and economic relations between India and Yemen.

During this visit, the CII will be signing an MoU with the Federation of Yemen Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FYCCI), which is the leading industry association in Yemen.

In addition to this the delegation will also organize an exploratory visit to the Sixth Sana'a International Exhibition, the Aden City, the commercial city of Yemen, and to the ADEN Chamber of Commerce and Industry for gauging the business potential and opportunities.

In Sana'a the delegation will meet with the key Yemen government officials and the leaders of the business community to examine ways to enhance trade between India and Yemen.

India's total trade with Yemen has reached 1,5491.91 million dollars in 2008-09 from 277.23 million dollars in 2004-05.

The CII believes that there is enormous potential for cooperation in areas of Energy (refining, power plants, and oil and gas exploration), infrastructure, information technology, healthcare and medical cities, tourism, food processing, organic chemicals, agricultural products, meat, poultry and dairy, education and skill development.

The business delegation includes senior executives from Escorts Limited, Psychotropics India Limited, Nadeem Leatherware Exports, Larsen and Turbo Limited, Wapcos limited and Value Addition. (ANI)
