New Delhi, May 24 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, said on Monday that his government would not tolerate corruption at any level and action would be taken against anyone if there was any involvement of corruption in spectrum allotment.

Addressing a press conference on the completion of UPA II's one year in office, Dr. Singh admitted that there is a huge gap in the prices of 2G and 3G spectrum services allotment, but added that the issue needs to be seen in proper perspective.

Dr Singh said Union Telecommunication and Information Technology (IT) Minister A Raja had given an explanation to him on the spectrum allotment issue.

"I have discussed this issue with Raja and what he told me is that he implemented policy as per recommendations of the TRAI and the Telecom Commission," Dr Singh said.

"It would have been unfair to new entrants if a new yardstick was used," he further added.

Commenting on the opposition charge of corruption against Raja, Dr. Singh said: "Some complaints were received by the Central Vigilance Commission and the commission has asked the CBI to look into this."

"That process is on and during that investigation it is not proper for me to express any definite opinions," he added.

Opposition parties have alleged that a Rs 60,000 crore scam has taken place in sale of 2G spectrum in 2008. They claim that 2G spectrum was sold to bidders at 2001 prices. (ANI)
