London, May 22(ANI): England batsman Eoin Morgan insists that he is ready to play Test cricket if called on for the Test series against Bangladesh, starting next week.
Morgan had played a crucial role in the middle order, as England won the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies last week.
"I'm more than ready for it if the chance comes, I've put myself in a good position. I feel I'm getting better and better and I see myself as a Test player in the future," The Sun quoted Morgan, as saying.
"I won't be devastated if it doesn't happen right now because I am sure I will get a chance. It would be a dream to play in The Ashes this winter - the ultimate for a cricketer. It's a long way away, but I feel I can take my attacking game into Tests and adapt," he added.
The 23-year-old further admits that breaking into the Test squad would not be easy, but says selectors may give him a chance backing his form.
"With the confidence I have shown in the higher levels of the one-day game and the Twenty20 then I think I have the mental game for the Test game," Morgan said.
"It will be difficult to break into the team. The guys that are in there now have been very successful in what they have done," he added. (ANI)
