Maruti Suzuki plans bigger engine for Alto
New Delhi, May 19: Four-wheeler giant, Maruti Suzuki India has decided to give Alto a 'face-lift' by equipping the highest selling model in India with a bigger engine.
India's automobile giant plans to launch the all new Alto with a one-litre petrol engine from its latest generation K-series engines.
“Alto needs a face-lift. It has been there for quite a while," Maruti Suzuki India Chairman R C Bhargava told a news agency.
He, however, did not divulge any details on when the new and improved Alto would be launched.
However, sources have cautioned the auto-crazy Indians that with the Alto's make-over the car's price tag will also be reviewed.
“With a bigger K-series engine, the new Alto will obviously be costlier than the existing Alto," an industry source remarked.
Maruti Suzuki recently rolled out the BS IV emission norms compliant Alto on the existing 800cc F Series engine, with a price tag range of Rs 2.29 lakh to Rs 2.8 lakh.
