Prime Minister should clarify stand on Maoist strategy: BJP
New Delhi, May 18 (ANI): In the wake of the Maoist attack that killed over 30 people in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada District, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday demanded that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh should bring the debate on Maoists problem to an end by clarifying his stand on the issue.
"Looking at the seriousness of the issue, the time has come when the Prime Minister should bring this debate to an end. He has to now stand up and clarify his stand. The stand will have to clarify why the security agencies, the Home Minister, Home Ministry is finding themselves to be weak and crippled against this fight with the Maoists," said senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha also reacted to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's statements, where he said that he was performing his duties to the full extent of the limited mandate granted to him.
"Yesterday, I saw an interview which was given by the Home Minister P Chidambaram to a private channel. And after watching this interview, my party's concern has increased," said Jaitley.
"He looked like an injured martyr... disheartened. And the logic he gave was that he was performing his duties to the best with the limited mandate he was provided with," he added.
Jaitley further said that they are against weakening of the security system at any cost, asserting that the entire security apparatus of the country must act together. (ANI)
