Chandigarh, May 17 (ANI): Organisers of the Shooting World Cup have apologised to the Indian team for harassing them in the United Kingdom.

"The organisers have apologised," said Rajib Bhatia, National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) secretary.

"We have now asked for a written apology and are waiting for the letter," Bhatia added.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur has promised appropriate action once a report from the High Commission is made available.

" This is something unfortunate that has happened and our ministry has noticed it and they have sent a letter to our High Commission. We will take appropriate," she said.

Veteran athlete Milkha Singh said: "If like this our players go abroad and they are insulted, so it is the insult of India. All players have to come here; we will welcome them with open arms when they will come here for Commonwealth Games.

Therefore, I feel that this brotherhood should be maintained and the things that are happening should not happen. It is not good for any country."

According to a complaint lodged by Indian team manager M Padmanabhan with the Indian High Commission, transport department officials at the event misbehaved with some Indians, including trap shooter and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Manavjit Singh Sandhu. (ANI)
