Ludhiana, May 17: The Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh continues to face fire over his controversial remarks on India's policy on China as the Education Minister Kapil Sibal has now come to say that Mr Ramesh's statements has embarrassed the government.
"There is a difference between a well-educated and a wise man. Such statements put the government in an embarrassing situation," said Mr Sibal in response to a question on the Environment Minister's scathing statement on the Home Ministry in Beijing.
While on a visit in China, Mr Ramesh had called the Home Minister 'alarmist' in its outlook towards China.
This immediately prompted a response from the Home Minister P Chidambaram, who wrote to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh protesting against the statements from his colleague that his ministry was putting 'needless' restrictions on Chinese investments and trade.
Dr Singh reprimanded the Environment Minister advising him to not make statements against other ministries.
The new row within the Congress-led UPA also became the weapon for the Opposition parties to wage battles against the government.
