Hyderabad, May 14: A police constable was shot dead in Hyderabad's Old City on Friday, May 14 by unidentified assailants.
The threee motorcycle-borne assailants, who opened fire on a police picket and sped away, were reportedly wearing masks and used a short fire arm.
The constable, who was gravely injured in the firing, was taken to Osmania General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The deceased has been identified as Ramesh.
Two others were injured in the firing.
The incident comes ahead of the third year anniversary of Mecca Masjid bomb blast.
As per the inputs available now, the authorities investigating into the incident are looking into the possibility of SIMI's role in the firing.
