Dad slaps girl to death for losing Rs 100
Cuttack, May 14: A nine-year-old girl was allegedly slapped to death by her father for losing Rs 100 at Malgodown in Cuttack district on Thursday, May 13.
A senior police officer, who confirmed the report, said that a case of unintentional murder under section 304 of IPC is likely to be lodged against Brundaban Behera, the victim's father.
Police officer Manoj Satapathy said that the girl fell unconcious after she was slapped by Behera, a rickshaw puller. She was taken to a hospital were she was declared brought dead.
Satapathy said that in the absence of an official complain and eyewitnesses coming up to testify, the police are contemplating on lodging a case suo motu on its own, based on the nature of the incident.
While the girl's father has admitted to slapping his daughter twice, her mother said that she was unaware of the entire incident.
