Rajiv Gandhi assassin claims threat to life
Chennai, May 13: Nalini Sriharan, serving life sentence for her role in the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, has claimed that there is a threat to her life, adding that she is being assaulted by the jail authorities.
Nalini wrote a numerous letters to the ADGP Prisons K R Shyamsundar, alleging that there has been several attempts to poison to her food.'
In her letters, Nalini complained that her cell has not been cleaned for days and expressed her suspicions that officials 'planted' something in there to frame her, apparently referring to the mobile phone found from her cell on Apr 2010.
On Apr 2010, she had written to Shyamsundar that she is being allegedly harassed by the prison authorities.
However, none of her allegations have been answered so far.
The government had informed the State Assembly on May 10, that Nalini had made several calls to the foreign countries from the mobile phone recovered from her cell, including to Sri Lanka and Britain.
Nalini had recenlty appealed for premature release which was turned down by the Madras High Court.
