Policeman saves Maoist's life; donates blood
Raipur, May 13: A Chhattisgarh policeman gave a badly wounded Maoist a new lease of life by donating his blood, sources said on Wednesday, May 13.
Sources at the police headquarters said in a news agency report that Chandrika Yadav, was shot in the waist in a encounter between the security forces and the Naxals in a forested stretch of Surguja district on May 7.
His life was saved by Virendra Singh, who donated his blood at Ambikapur Government Hospital where Yadav was being treated.
"Virendra Singh donated his blood on humanitarian grounds when no one was ready to donate his or her blood to the injured Maoist," the source said.
Sources said that Yadav, who was involved in several attacks, carried a cash reward of Rs 10,000 on his head.
The Maoist is recovering and would soon be questioned by the police over his involvement in the attacks, they said.
