Ranchi, May 11: Two days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had announce its decision to rule in Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has asked the party to share the power on 50:50 basis.

JMM leader, Hemant Soren said on Monday, May 10, that the party has proposed sharing of power between the coalition parties during their 3-hour-long legislature party meeting, which was headed by Chief Minister Shibu Soren.

He added that the matter would be discussed on May 12, based on the ally'se reaction.

"During the meeting with BJP President Nitin Gadkari and others, we proposed sharing of power for 28 months each. But now, we have learnt that BJP is willing to govern the state for a full term," Hemant, JMM legislative party leader, said.

"For the sake of stability and development of the state, we gave the post of chief minister to BJP. And now, it is up to them to think over the issue of sharing power on 50-50 basis," he said.

On the date of resignation of Chief Minister Shibu Soren, Hemant said, "let BJP choose its chief ministerial candidate and clear its stand on the 50-50 proposal."

The late night meeting on Monday, May 10, was attended by 18 JMM MLAs.
