Imphal, May 11 (ANI): A ten day long integrated mime workshop for specially-abled children and adolescents was recently organized here.

The workshop was jointly organised by the Indian Mime Repertory Theatre, Kolkata, and Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory, Imphal, and sponsored by Nehru Memorial Library, New Delhi.

Mime, as a theatrical medium or performance art, is the acting out a story through body motions, without the use of speech.

"They can go in mime stream, in yoga, in dance stream. So this workshop can give inspiration for their future," said Dr Sadananda Singh, the Director of the Kanglei Mime Repertory Theatre.

The main objective of the workshop was to provide a platform to the children and to explore their artistic talents, and understand the art form of mime.

Around 45 children in the age group of 10 to 18 years took part in the workshop.

"Feedback is very good because we have 45 participants. No one left this workshop, no one is sick, everybody is enjoying. From morning till night they have very busy schedule, and we work on the martial arts, yoga, dance, music, mask-making, mime, acting," said Niranjan Goswami, Director of Indian Mime Theatre. (ANI)
