Bail plea hearing of Halappa on May 11
Shimoga, May 11: The High Court on Tuesday, May 11, will hear the anticipatory bail plea of former Karnataka minister Hartal Halappa, arrested in connection with rape case filed against him by his friend's wife, Chandravathi.
The judicial custody of Halappa, who was arrested on Sunday, May 9, has been extened till May 24.
The former minister has charged with rape, intimidation, unlawful restraint and confinement after Chandravathi filed a complaint under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) .
Halappa resigned from his post as the minister of Food and Civil Supplies following the publication of an article by newspaper which claimed that he had raped Chandravathi, wife of Venkatesh Mury, four months ago.
He denied the charges saying that it was political conspiracy to malign him and his party.
