Bhubaneswar, May 9 (ANI): Enthusiastic pre-teen girls from across the country participated in the four-day 'Nanhi Pari' or little fairy contest in Bhubaneswar.
The contest saw girls from around twenty states taking part in the annual beauty pageant. rganized by the Nanhi Pari organisation, the contest provides a platform for little girls to make a mark in beauty contests.
"Many competitions are organized for the younger girls like Miss India and Miss World. But there was no such programme for the teenager girls at the school level, for grooming up their talents and exposing talents. So, we thought of a programme in which the teenager girls will get a platform to groom their talents and expose their talents and that is why this Nanhi Pari competition was started," said Malay Mohapatra, General Secretary, Nanhi Pari.
Girls as young as 10 and 12 years sashayed down the ramp with both poise and confidence.
They were judged on the basis of their looks, general knowledge, talent and intelligence by a panel of eminent personalities.
After passing through various rounds, Sulatan Nahid, a contestant from Assam was crowned the winner.
"I am feeling very excited and very happy. I wished to become a Nanhi Pari and I fulfilled my dream. So, I am very happy at this moment and I am speechless and I don't have any words to express my feelings," said Sultana Nahid, a winner of Nanhi Pari contest.
Nahid said she wants to be a part of many more beauty pageants in the future. he parents of the contestants said they were overwhelmed to watch their daughters walk down the ramp.
A girl from Orissa, Sriya Salini, and another from Maharashtra, Sagun Sengupta, were the first and the second runner-ups in the event. (ANI)
