New Delhi, May 6: Even though Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ananth Kumar made it clear that he will not apologise for his remarks against RJD Chief Lalu Prasad during the Census 2011 debate, Leader of Opposition and senior BJP leader, Sushma Swamraj on Thursday, May 6 decided to apologise on the behalf of her party colleague as well as Lalu.
“I unconditionally apologise for the remarks made by Mr. Ananth Kumar yesterday (Wednesday, May 5)," Swaraj told the Lok Sabah as soon as the house convened for the day.
"I also apologise on behalf of Mr. Laluji also," she said when the RJD supremo intervened.
"There is a lot of important business to be done in the House. I appeal to members to help in smooth running of the House," she added.
Ananth Kumar, who was also present in the house, remained silent.
On Wednesday, May 5, Mr Kumar insisted that he had not made the remarks against Lalu and made it clear that he will not render an apology.
