Shahzad's arrest may trigger anti-Muslim incidents
New York, May 5: The arrest of the Pakistani-American Faisal Shahzan in connection with the attempted Times Square bombing may trigger off hatred against and attacks on the Muslim community, observed New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Warning against the any anti-Muslim incidents in the city, the Mayor assured, “We will not tolerate any bias or backlash against Pakistani or Muslim New Yorkers."
Shahzad was arrested on Monday, May 3, at the JFK airport a day after his attempt to detonate explosives in New York's Time Square failed.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the detained terror suspect has admitted that he wanted to trigger off an explosion at the Times Square and has revealed that he underwent training in Pakistan.
