Lucknow, May 5: The police are in a state of dilemma if the death of a 22-year-old girl, who died after falling from the fourth floor of a mall, is a case of suicide or murder.
The second year architecture student, Shruti Agarwal died on Tuesday, May 4 after she fell from the fourth floor of Fun Republic Mall in the Gomti Nagar area.
The girl was in the mall with a friend, identified as Raj Kumar. The youngsters had resportedly met online. Raj came to meet Shruti in Lucknow from Indore.
Suspecting foul play in Shruti's death, the police officers investigating into the case have detained Raj.
“We have initiated a probe into the case. Though Raj Kumar told us that the girl jumped off from the third floor after having some arguments with him, we are still to ascertain any specific reason behind the death," Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rajiv Krishna said while speaking to reporters.
Witnesses have also told media that Raj was drunk when the incident happened.
Raj was the one who rushed Shruti to a hospital, where she was declared dead.
