Karunanidhi to meet Manmohan Singh
New Delhi, May 3 (ANI): Dravida Munnetra Kazagam (DMK) chief M. Karunanidhi will meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at 7.00 o'clock this evening at the latter's residence.
The Tamil Nadu chief minister Karunanidhi is in Delhi on a three-visit.
Earlier in the day, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi called on Congress President Sonia Gandhi and demanded early passage of the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Karunanidhi said: "I told Sonia Gandhi that steps should be taken to pass the Women's Reservation Bill as soon as possible."
It was not clear whether the controversy surrounding Telecom Minister A Raja over the 2G Spectrum figured during their meeting.
Meanwhile, both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned on Monday morning amid the Opposition's demand for resignation of Telecom Minister A. Raja for his alleged involvement in the reported scam in allocation of 2G spectrum.
It is likely that the issue of A.Raja may figure in the talks between the Prime Minister and Karunanidhi in the evening meet today.
On Sunday, Karunanidhi had backed A. Raja and virtually ruled out his resignation as demanded by the opposition parties over the 2G Spectrum controversy.
Raja, represents the DMK in the Union Cabinet and is reportedly close to Karunanidhi.
Earlier in the week, opposition had stalled proceedings in the Parliament over the demand for Raja's resignation due to alleged irregularities in 2G-spectrum allotment.
Sources said Raja has emerged as the Dalit face of the DMK and enjoys good rapport with Karunanidhi.
Though Raja is embroiled in two major allegations-the spectrum allotment -- and his alleged telephone call to a Madras High Court judge for a favourable order, Karunanidhi has looked soft n him. (ANI)
