Rooney tops world footie star 2009-10 rich list with 33 m pounds

London, May 2 (ANI): England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has topped the Premier League football star rich list with a fortune of 33 million pounds.

According to a report in the News of The World, lucrative sponsorship deals and a 100,000-pound-a-week salary have helped boost Rooney's wealth by four million pounds in the past year.

However, the report says that Roo's fortune is still a quarter of David Beckham's 125 million pounds.

The next richest UK footballer is Michael Owen at 40 million pounds.

Football dominates the pay league with 57 players and managers making the top 100. They are collectively worth 2.45 billion pounds.

Chelsea has the most entries, ten, with eight from Manchester United. (ANI)
