Lahore, May.1 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is contemplating handing over the Test captaincy to incumbent T20 skipper Shahid Afridi, a top PCB official has said.
PCB chief operating officer Wasim Bari said Afridi was one of the top contenders for the post ahead of the important Test series' against England and Australia.
"I personally believe that he (Afridi) brings a lot of energy to the team and I have never seen the team prepare so hard for a tournament as they did for the T20 World Cup. He is someone who leads by example which is what we need now," The Daily Times quoted Bari, as saying.
Afridi has opted to stay away from the five-day format to focus on shorter versions of the game, and has not played a Test match since 2006.
However, before leaving for the West Indies for the ICC World T20 Championship, the exciting all-rounder had hinted that he may consider returning to Test cricket.
"Captaincy is always a big honour for any player in any form of the sport and it is not as if I have totally given up on playing Test matches," Afridi had said. (ANI)
