Jharkhand: Maoists rape girl for fleeing from camp
Latehar, May 1: A teenage girl, who was a member of the Maoist outfit, was raped by the other ultras as she tried to flee from the camp in Jharkhand's Latehar district.
"The girl ran away from a camp about five days ago. She was caught by the ultras, beaten up and raped when she refused to return," superintendent of police Kuldeep Dwivedi is quoted as saying in a news agency report.
The police also informed that the Maoists had sent out an appeal to sympathisers and supporters to trace the 16-year-old girl or inform them of her whereabouts saying that she had fled with arms.
After abusing the girl physically and sexually, the ultras left the girl in an isolated place.
The villagers who found the girl took her to a clinic. She was later taken to Sadar Hospital.
The girl has been arrested, the police said on Saturday, May 1.
This is not the first time the victim tried to flee. Earlier, when she ran away due to physical and mental pressure on her, the police had arrested her from Manika police station area.
