New York, May 1(ANI): Casio watches' link to numerous bombing attempts has singled them out as the timepiece of choice for terror organizations around the world, the New York Daily News reported.
According to the report, several Al-Qaeda militants are believed to have built bombs using the digital watches, which can be bought for less than 30 dollars.
Those who have chosen to use Casios on their mission include, Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind behind the foiled plot to blow up 11 U.S.-bound airliners in 1994, and Ahmed Ressam, an Algerian convicted of plotting to bomb Los Angeles International Airport around 2000.
The links have also alerted the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), who in the past, have urged airport security authorities to look out for them.
In 2005, the U.S. counter-terrorism officials had also issued an advisory highlighting their use.
"Casio watches have been extensively used by (Al-Qaeda) and associated organizations as timers for improvised explosive devices," it read. (ANI)
