Opposition demands A Raja's dismissal over 2G scam
New Delhi, Apr 29: The alleged 2008 2G spectrum allocation scam came back to haunt Telecom Minister A Raja with the Opposition now demanding his removal.
The cries for his dismissal in the Parliament came in the wake of a newspaper report that a corporate lobbyist was involved in alleged multi-crore scam over allocation of 2G spectrum.
“The CBI has acquired clinching evidence showing that a high-profile woman PR lobbyist acted as power-broker in the multi-crore 2G spectrum scam," the report in a daily said.
This report has fueled the Opposition to seek the A Raja's dismissal. AIADMK, BJP and the Left parties have come together in the Parliament against the DMK leader.
Since A Raja was himself not present in either of the houses, other DMK leaders T R Baalu in the Lok Sabha defended their party colleague, while in the Rajya Sabha, BJP and AIADMK members led the crusade for Raja's dismissal.
