Chinese lawmakers say better Internet operator cooperation will prevent state secret leaks

Beijing, Apr.28 (ANI): Chinese lawmakers have through a proposed amendment called on Internet operators and public information network providers to 'cooperate' better in e State Security department probes.

China is tightening its already vice-like grip on Internet operations in the State.

According to the amendment, "Information transmissions should be immediately stopped if they are found to contain state secrets."

According to a Xinhua report, this entails that the discoverer of such leaks has to immediately inform public and state security departments.

Amendments have to undergo three readings before being adopted by China's legislature.

This amendment to the Law on Guarding State Secrets was submitted for its third reading at the four-day session of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, or the top legislature, which began Monday. (ANI)
